warped head 700

My mechanic told me my head was warped, well, the one on my '92 745t to be precise. He had the head sent to the machine shop - they're not just going to mill down the head, they're going to do something like heat it up and stretch it or something, I'll ask more when I pick up the car in a few more days but was just wondering if anyone knew any more about this process?
