Hi all, 1981 242DL with a b21F engine and a creative past.
Last set of posts i was trying to rig a manual switch on my cold start injector. (see posts under delphine: i want a manual fifth injector dated about 2 weeks ago)
The mechanic had fixed thhis problem before by putting in a relay that counts five seconds of cranking time, if it hasnt fired by then, it triggers the cold start injector. this worked until i fried the relay (oops. it fell off its clamp, ended up belly up, it rained heavily and the relay case filled with water, i didnt know this and tried to start it. fried.)
the relay in question is a weird aftermarket thing that thefy cant seem to find another one of (dont know what it was originally made to do?)
So i tried removing the relay and installing a toggle switch.
It aint working. i have NO clue why. conditions tested were: relay in place (no start, fired but no start), relay in place, no ground wire (doesnt even fire), toggle in place (doesnt even fire), toggle in place with ground (doesnt fire).
I guess i am looking for another relay... maybe someone north of me can find it, or has seen this done and knows what i'm doing wrong...
Relay says on it : WEHRLE 53 201 003 12V/ 5A 3 prongs, two to the thermotimer switch, one to ground.
Anyone know where to get one? or how to make a toggle work? (hmm, maybe it must be the correct amperage toggle? i'll check, i just used a random one i had)
Any help would be very much appreciated as i am losing my mind.
The earlir posts got me a bunch of replies telling me to check this and that. i had already checked it all, but i took the injector head off, checked all the fuel distribution system, all the wires etc again. when back together it was still doing the exact same thing (fires, sounds like it will start, but wont).
at least i didnt make it worse :)
