rectangular airbox on B20 with HS6 carbs 120-130

Hi all. Sure missed the Board for 2 days.

Rhys, George, Ian, Cameron, anybody else

I've got a 1967 122 (B20, plugged E head, D cam, dual FI exhaust manifold to a(currently) stock B18 exhaust, SU HS6 w/KD needles. I've been using WEIAND air cleaners with washable foam elements for years because I couldn't see spending $25+ each time to replace the 3 bolt hole filters - K&N may be in my future.

I am under the impression that, in the summer at least (I'm in NYC), cooler air from outside the engine compartment would be a good thing, and have been searching for an airbox for the single rectangular element and air intake fed to the front of the engine compartment. I've found a pretty clean complete one and am looking to install it (without the shutter housing which draws warmer air from the exhaust shroud until the engine heats up.)
The part number on the airbox cover is 681 607 (6840 imp 10/69), lower section which bolts to carbs is 683 719 (6840 imp 4/70). I'm thinking these must have come from a 140 B20 B with strombergs

Questions:
At least on CVI's breakdown for 122 and 1800 (I can't download the 140 catalog, 'cuz they're on vacation), I can't find these numbers - are they 140 specific?

Is the center to center SU intake same as Strombergs?

Is this any more involved than drilling another hole for the 2nd, vacuum/piston lifting intake and plugging the 5 small holes in rear end of lower box section?

Is there any reason not to use my B18 heat, shield or should I swap out for the 2 separate heat shields?

If others have done this, maybe you could give me a list of what has to be done, where you fed the intake to at the front of the engine compartment.

thanks

Does this help performance at all in hot weather - the "cooler" air?

thanks
