Probably can. I don't think I have any filter gaskets so I traced the front
of the carb (rather poorly)

The holes are in the wrong place. I just kissed them off. On another engine/
car combination I had aircleaners furnished by JCW Inc. held on to HD8 carbs
by 5/16" bolts with nuts inside. One of the nuts got loose, got between the #2
piston and head and cocked the piston in the cylinder, splitting it from top
to bottom. Big bore block with thin cylinder walls, I guess. Pretty traumatic
in any case, at least the sound it made and the 2 1/2 gallons of gray stuff
in the crankcase. That is why I now have a 6-bolt engine with an 8-bolt block.

No. The green file folder stock I used is pretty durable.

Take your lid to an auto parts/supply store and see if they don't have something
close.
