Well my nice shiny 960 wagon that was in line for a diesel conversion just got totalled! Just did the brakes, some minor body work and upgraded the stereo and on my way home from an afternoon dealing with brain dead drivers I was T-boned hard by one of them who was yapping on her cell phone while driving a Lincoln Navagator. Normally I only attract dents but this dent covers the entire passengers side starting at the mid section of the door and ending at the busted off wheel. I was shaken but not stirred much, the woman however was not hurt only agitated that I cut her off while she attempted to sail through a red light that was 15 seconds old. At first I did not identify myself as an officer to her because normally on bad days I leave that in the squad car however her constant chattering on the cell phone forced me to show my badge, she challanged me stating she was an attorney. I said fine as you can represent yourself. She then advises me of "my rights" and tells me I will have to show my insurance and that because the accident was "my fault" she did not have to show her insurance or license because I was going to be sued. "Ma'am please turn off the phone and place your hands behind your back, you are under arrest" Well this set her off. She resisted and told me that because she was an attorney she was in fact an "officer of the court" and was above my authority.
So here I am with an uncooperative female attorney who thinks she is God and better than everyone else while my poor 960 trickles out the last of its antifreeze on the ground. It was about this time a county deputy shows up and jumps into the fray. I identify myself as an officer and brief the deputy who then draws his gun and advises me that this will be a felony arrest procedure.
"LADY DROP THE PHONE GET ON GROUND FACE DOWN DO IT NOW!" She complied all the while screaming how she was going to sue us and our departments, such language from an attorney who we later find out is only a court reporter and not listed on the state Bar... Oh well.
So down the drain goes my nice shiny 960. A black wagon with lightly tinted glass, a poor running motor and sweet black leather interior. I was going to drop in a fresh D24TIC and 4+E stick. It was a 2.9L DOHC motor that had been overheated in the past but ran well enough to get by. Oh well I still have my 760 TD but it doesnt haul the extra kids I inhereted very well!
