Hello all--I'm in the process of converting my B18 from the snorkel-style passive crankcase breather to a PCV setup. Have installed the later type oiltrap with an off-the-shelf Purolator PCV valve, run straight into the hose barb on an iron intake/exhaust manifold. I retained the original oil filler cap since it's a free breather--my guess is that it should work the same as the later hose-fitting equipped type whose hose normally runs to the air cleaner.
Anyway, so far I'm experiencing a very poor idle and stalling when accelerating from a stop. Once RPMs are up everything is great. I'm wondering if I could be using too small a PCV hose: I'm using 3/8", since that happened to be the size of the PCV valve and hose barb I found lying around. Anyone know what the stock hose size would have been?
Any other tips on the PCV's effect on tuning (possible leaning of mixture?) are welcome, as this my first foray into no-snorkel territory.
Thanks--
Nathan
