Clunk on Acceleration 700 1990

For the past couple of weeks I have noticed a loud clunk when I accelerate hard from a stopped position. The sound seems to be coming from the rear of the car which makes me think there might be a problem in the differential. Anyone riding in the car can feel this thumping noise also. Regular maintenance has been done as far as flushing the tranny fluid and diff oil. Definitely a little worried. Any ideas?
