89 240 wagon stalling problem 200 1989

No previous similar problems with this 240 wagon. Today, while driving the engine just quit, and all the lights on the dash were lit up. (Reminded me of my blown timing belt on my 1981 240, but no timing belt problem here.) Tried starting over and over, but nothing. (although it did crank, no firing, no nothing). Waited a while, pulled the 25 amp fuse and cleaned a bit. Put it back in and tried starting, much the same problem, but could here it fire once every so often, but not often enough. Also, while cranking, occassionally I would get a quick knock and for that brief millisecond the dash lights would flash off, coinciding with the knock. Finally it started, and I got it almost up to my house. Stalled again. jumped the fuses #4 and #6 (thought that would help) and after a while it started again, but stalled. Removed the 25 amp fuse and cleaned it more thoroughly, car started right up and got into the parking lot. Cleaned the fuse with electric cleaner, replaced, and has started and idled well for a while with no problems. I haven't driven it any distance since, afraid it will stall again. Any suggestions? Also, I removed the fuel pump relay and looked at the solder, looked ok.
