update on thermostat temp swings...now i'm stumped 200

hey all...i'm sorry to post again...but i'm really stumped.

My car is a 1982 244 kjetronic. The temp on seems to vary from anywhere from 35%(normal area it usually is after replacement) to like 52%.

I've researched this issue a bit..and i've found out these things.

THe first thing is that the temp is not erratic....it goes up gradually....on really hot days it goes up to like 50 percent...and on cold days...it stays at 35%. The normal temp is 35%....so i'm assuming the mechanic put in a "hot" thermostat

The fan clutch is tight...so i have no issues there

The thermostat is not the issue...because it was acting like this(swinging around so much) with the last thermostat.

The temp comp board which i've read about seems to begin in the year 1985..so i shouldn't have one.

THe radiator is 2 years old....the coolant is new....and the system is bled..i even went as far as squezzing tubes and the such

I just can't figure out why it should move so much. Maybe this is normal..and nobody has just told me yet???

i'd appreciate any input.
