Temp guage sensor 700 1987

Please see the image URL below. In the picture, is the broken connector indicated by the red arrow the temperature guage sender? In other words, is it the connector to which the temperature guage in my guage cluster is connected? What is the connector indicated by the blue arrow? Anything special that I need to know about replacing the temperature guage sender? I mean, I won't have oil spewing out of the engine block if I pull the sender and replace it, right?
