Windshield trim coming up 200 1990

Hi all, question about my windshield. The trim around my windshield is starting to come up and the previous owner (who is uncontactable) used some kind of heavy duty adhesive to keep it down but I don't know what it was. Anyone have any ideas? It appears that they put on this stuff that's black and super tacky and it worked fine for a number of years. It's a small corner that's lifting.
