Hey guys.....I am a bit perplexed with my 91 245 again...I will try to make this post as short as possible. My 245 has NO power and is drinking gas.
These are things that have been checked/changed.
1.) Checked AMM burn off...passed
2.) INstalled new fuel pressure regulator
3.) Installed new coolant temp sensor- (Not temp gauge sending unit at front of block)
4.) Installed new Bosch cap and rotor, Bougicord Plug and coil wires
5.) New Bosch Platinum Plugs
6.) New timing Belt and tensioner( suspect misalignment of cam and crank)
7.) Checked ALL ECU grounds and resistances and voltages listed in electrical section of Bentley manual
8.) New Air filter
9.) Cleaned Throttle Body and Adjusted TPS to spec in Bentley manual
10.) Checked Coil resistance/output-Passed
11.) Checked for vacuum routing/leaks-all seem normal
12.) Checked resistance of RPM/Crank Position Sensor- while in BAD shape -(wire cover worn from heat)-Passed
13. checked IAC valve- passed -(piston opened and closed with 12v applied)
The last thing I can think of is the EGR Valve as I can't see if it is properly opening and closing with it installed on the car. Will the RPM sensor being in poor condition cause the no power condition I described? It starts easily but it is missing -like it is out of time -Which brings me to my last point. I looked at the timing marks on the TB lower cover and I am bit perplexed by these. They are a little ambiguous. It appeared as if 10 deg would be at the far right upper mark and zero is at the center leaving 20 to the far left (as you face the marks)If I can't get this resolved this weekend, I will be FORCED to take it to my Volvo specialist and let him diagnose. Also, what else can I check on the AMM to see if it is functioning. I have done all of the checks in the Bentley Bible and have thus far come up with nothing out of spec. I have run the car for a while(at least 30-45 mins) after completely re-setting the ECU-No check engine lights yet. Any ideas....again, please pardon the lengthy post as I didn't want to sound like an idiot and wanted to be as thorough as possible. Thanks to all.
