Wiring questions on a 142. A long post. 140-160

My son and I are finishing up an automatic-to-manual transmission conversion in his '71 142. Everything has come together pretty well, except I have a couple of questions about wiring. I haven't connected the battery, yet, so the first question may not be significant. First, what do I need to do to compensate for the lack of a safety switch (on the automatic tranny)? I assume I have to re-route some wires as if I were bypassing the safety start switch. Second, how to I re-route the wiring to the back-up lights. The spade fitting is on the top of the manual tranny at the back, and on the automatic the wiring for the safety start switch is also used for the back-up lights. I'm guessing that I need to run a wire from the reverse switch connection to a relay and from there the wiring goes to the back-up lights. Which is the right relay? I guess I don't even care if I'm right. I'm just asking for help. Any given will be appreciated.

By-the-way, the conversion has been an adventure - a good one. Everything is a direct bolt-on. That doesn't mean there's no work involved, but it makes it easier to figure stuff out.

You ought to see a color-blind old man trying to figure out if the wire is a dirty red or black, or if that't really a dirty white wire or a light blue one. I have to do a bit more tracing than most folks.

Thanks for the help.
