Reconditioned AMM's ?

The guy who bought my '82 244GL last year came to me today with sysmtoms of a failed AMM -002 style.

Shopping around, we found prices for used/rebuilt AMMs going for $400-500 !!!

I ordered a rebuilt from FCPGroton for $189.

What exactly get rebuilt on these things?

At these prices, it is definitely worth looking into as a DIY attempt, if it is at all possible.

After all, we repair our own ECUs now, don't we?
