760 wheels on a 240? 200 1992

Hello all:

When I wrecked my 760 a few years back it was wearing snow tires. My 88-90 760 alloys (about 20 short spokes, also found on 940s) were in my garage. When I picked up my 245 I posted and asked whether the 760 alloys would fit the 240. I believe Chris Herbst responded yes and posted a picture. Today I dug them out of my garage and had them fitted with new tires. Everything was going smoothly until we tried to put the center caps on-- they don't fit on the front because of the wheel bearing cap seems to interfere with the clips!

Has anybody got any sage advice for a work-around? Been there, done thats with solutions would be greatly appreciated!
