2.9L Six or V8 into a 1986 745 GLE TD Wagon 700

Hi:

I'm thinking of another project. I have a great 1986 745 GLE Turbo Diesel sitting around for lack of an engine and transmission. I was thinking of installing the 2.9L straight six in it. I'm not too keen about the PRV but would consider it too. They seem like naturals with the Diesel springs and radiator. Being a Volvo Diesel Man, I'd love to put the Diesel back in it but don't have one.

Has anyone attemped this? What do you think would be involved with the mounts, clearances, exhaust and other things? Being a retired Electrician, I am not too concerned about the electrical as I've done these conversions before.

If it's just as complicated as a V8 conversion, I might consider that route.

Concerning the PRV, what model and year corrected the Cam Eating problem? And how do you PRV owners feel about that latest version?

Your thoughts
Thanks
