144 Steering Rack 140-160

Thanks for your input everyone it is much appreciated. volvo15 I would very much appreciate a picture of what you have done. walrus3 I agree with you that the original steering box and drag link arrangement if in good order would be just fine, but if you see my attached picture you can hopefully get some idea of my dilema! The crossmember and engine you all should recognise, the rest of the car you may not, it is a 1950 Ford Prefect Ute. The part of the chassis needed to mount the steering box just does not exist, and if I was to go to the hassle of creating suitably strong mounting points, i might as well go to the trouble of fitting rack and pinion steering! I should add that I have obtained a ford escort steering rack which has been professionally cut down to a length that should eliminate bump steer, and allow the steering column to pass under the engine mount but over the crossmember! How others have mounted their racks is what I am after!
