Any front cam bearing problems? 140-160

My 74 8 bolt 120e had 7100km genuine one owner and untouched mechanically. No1 tappets were always very noisy,if i adjusted them it would miss bad until i opened them up again. Pulled engine and found exact same wear as you describe, plenty metal in sump so would not think it melted. Oil ways were aligned and cam lobes had moderate wear. My conclusion was swarf from cam lobes and lifters chewed out front brg because of extra thrust of timing gear. Regards to all, 2 months into full time motorhome lifestyle and loving it, big place this Oz.
