Gear shift assembly 200

'93 240 wagon, 187k
I used the forums here to figure out why my car would not start. Thank you all very much! The metal stud from the automatic shifter slipped out from the PNP switch, easy fix, just popped it back into place. My gear shifter seems to be "loose" as it has some left-to-right play, hence the PNP problem. Is there a way for an "all thumbs" computer nerd to fix this? Also, the brake solenoid/switch is just laying down loose in the bottom of the gear shift housing. I can see the switch move when I step on the brakes and turn on the ignition, but what does that do? I mean I can literaly pick it up with my fingers an move it around, but it doesn't seem to be connected to anything except the small wire attached to it.
