740GL knocking/pinging under load 700

If you timed it using a strobe ligh on the crank pulley marks make sure the pulley hasn't slipped. The outer section can seperate from the inner piece on the crankshaft and rotate missaligning the timing marks. Remove the front spark plug and make sure the piston is all the way up when the pulley is at the TDC mark and the distributor is pointing to the number one plug wire.
