auto tranny 2nd to 3rd shift slipping 200 1992

Hello,
I tried to search the board but could get to far.
My question/problem

My 92 240 is having some problems. The transmission seems to be slipping or not engaging between its 2nd-3rd gear shifts. I can almost floor it but there just it just doesnt seem to pick up any speed until it seems to "catch". I can get it to work if I manually shift to 2nd gear, then it engages imediatly and takes off.
I have check the kickdown cable and fluid levels and such. Im goign to hook up a pressure gauge soon.

Im sure I havent been to kind to the tranny in it 200,000 mile lifespan. I also put a higher stall converter in it many years ago to match the power band from the ipd cam. which I am sure didnt help the longevity. I do however flush the fluid and keep up the maintance

any thoughts

thanks
Geoffrey
