General injector cleaner question

My 1975 164 probably needs its injectors cleaned but no one in the Twin Cities area will do them. Claim they threw out all of the old equipment.
Just in case I do not have an injector problem and wind up "wasting" 6X$25, could I not just pour a bunch of injector cleaner in the tank and drive it around for 2 hours?
The tank on my 164 is only 15 gallons (I tanked up today) and I was wondering if I poured in two(2) bottles of cleaner at once, if that would be too hard on the system.
If I ran the car at 50 for 2 hours, that would use up about 7 or 8 gallons in its current state.

Good idea, or terrible way to treat a nice old car. My mechanic is too busy until next week.

Thanks,
Klaus
