Volvo 245 DL Rear Wiper Motor Diode Problem 200 1980

Hello All:
I have a 1980 Volvo 245 DL Wagon. I have a rear wiper motor problem. The wiper motor stopped working and I removed it. I bench tested it and the motor works only when you supply power to the unused terminal on the far side of the diode. The diode is Fried !! Does anyone know what type of diode is used in this rear wiper motor. I could just connect the motor power wire to the far side terminal, but I know the diode allows the wiper motor (while running)to continue to operate to return the wiper arm to its' resting place when you turn off the switch. My area garage priced out a new wiper motor at 150 bucks. I would rather replace the diode. Look forward to your replies. Cameraman
