replacing alternator belts 200 1985

an 85 245 DL w/ 260k

On the way home both belts that go to the alternator died. Fortunately I was a short distance from home, so the engine did not overheat and found the belts under the fan when I got there just after sunset. They both were missing some "teeth" and were cracked. Am I glad this did not happen on my NM to Yellowstone trip last May!

A neighbor will give me a ride in the morning to the local NAPA/Checker store(s) to get new belts. Using a flashlight I tried to see where to loosen the alternator, but it isn't as obvious as what I've worked on before. Also there's the matter of taking off the belt to the AC to get the new belts on.

A Bentleys book has been on my wish list but until now hasn't made it to gotta-haves. Any help and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
