Convertible 544/444? 444-544

Anyone know anything about custom built 444/544 convertibles? I know where there is a black on white one hiding. And I am trying to decide if I should pursue it. I believe the story is that it was brought to CA from sweden in the early 80's then driven to NY by this guy, and parked in the garage. It has a newer motor? (as in it might be a 444 with a 544 motor? I'm not sure exactaly how the early volvo stuff works. Any ideas?
