Cold Start Problems 200 1987

My first guess is Air Mass Meter for such cold weather problems. This car has LH 2.2 injection and takes the Bosch -007 AMM. Many junkyards should have one for about $50; a dealer will likely get about $300 for a used one. There are "reman" or rebuilt units around; I can't recommend them unless the car only has 6 months to live.

This unit is used on 240s, 740s, and 740T's from 1985 to 1988.

They're regularly sold on Ebay, and here, in the classifieds. The difference between a good one and bad one should be immediately noticeable. She can replace it herself even if she's never worked on a car before. Just has one big squeeze-and-pull connector, one 10mm bolt, two big hose clamps. No need to pay someone to do it. If she's not at all the do-it-yourself type, someone at work or a friend can easily do this job in the parking lot on a lunch break.

Good luck with it!
