I have bought a beautiful '95 964 to replace my wife's '94 964 after she rear ended a monster SUV and totalled the 965. I am now into the second day of discovery on all the details of what's not right. Among them is a non-functioning Rt Frnt power seat.
Before the insurance company takes the 965, I have them side by side and using what I need from the 'old' car.
I found that the power conn had been disconnected from the problem seat.
I pulled the seat cushion back and saw that the Fore/Aft drive wire was disconnected from the Rt Sd gear assy of the Rt Seat. The wire was a bit mangled on the end, so it's toast.
I couldn't get any of the motors to work when I connected the power conn, so I swapped the controls off the 'old' car and hooked it up to the problem seat on the new car and found that the motors worked (the controls on teh problem seat were also toast).
The problem drive wire is the worst for access. It is poked in quite low, under a lot of the gear housing, so I can't see it at all.
I pulled the problem drive wire out of its housing, and put the good end into the gear mechanism drive and used the controls and the "manually" run Rt Hnd drive wire to get the seat wound up to the most forward position in prep for pulling the seat.
Could anyone shed some light on the drive wire housing retention mechanism for the Rt Hnd Fore/Aft drive wire on the Rt (Passenger Sd) seat? How is that thing held on down there?
Do I have to pull the two seats to get this fixed by swapping drive wires, etc?
I looked at the FAQ, and it basically said to do the seat pulling with the battery disconnected to avoid any unwelcome airbag surprises, and pull the four bolts anchoring the rail assys to the floor, slide it back and finagle it out of some locking engagement in the floor section.
Any other helpful hints, etc. are welcome. I'm going to have to do this tomorrow morning.
