242GT seats 200 1981

Hi,

I've just bought on ebay a set of front and rear seats from a 242GT with the intention of using them to replace the rather tired ones in my 142.

The seller forgot to mention that the black corduroy was rather mouldy in places, probably from storing them under his rather damp smelling house.

Is it possible to remove the covers and machine wash them or is there a better way? They look like they are attached to the cushions with lots of hog rings. This is my first foray into the world of upholstery, so any advice to a complete newbie is most welcome!

Thanks in advance
