Speedometer/Odometer/Cruise not Working 900 1996

Just purchased a 1996 960. Needs work. So far replaced the rack & steering pump, as well as the coil. Upcoming work will be the thermostat (heat is not working), antenna, fixing the driver's side power seat (one side moves) and passenger's side power seat (I think it is reset button that is stuck - I had a 1987 760 that had the same problem).

Immediate work (if I can figure it out) is getting the speedo/odometer/cruise working. Before I remove the cluster (RPM, clock etc works), from reading the forums - it looks like the most likely problem is the VSS (speed sensor). Has anyone else had this problem and can confirm I am in the right direction. I believe that sensor is mounted on the rear diff. Eventually I will need to get to the instrument cluster to replace a bulb that is out.

Nice car but in comparison to my 1992 940GL (which at 180000) is still going strong - this car needs way more at the mileage listed currently (73000). Also, what is up with the headliner material on the A, B and C pillars. I guess they were trying to save $$$. If the 960 looks like it can go the long haul, I was thinking about taking from a junk yard the A, B and C pillars from a 940. I suspect they are the same in size.
