door wiring repair/replacement 200 1989

door locks went into a fit the other day, could be triggered by opening the drivers door. I suspect the wiring in the flex joint between the door and body has finally failed. I pulled the fuse and will live without clock, lights etc until warmer weather.

What is the best way to overhaul this wiring? Is it special flexible wire, or will regular wire do for replacement. I want the repair to last - I did a quick fix last year by pulling some slack into this area, but never trusted it.

Thanks in advance, the advice here is the best.
