High pitched fuel pressure related sound near fuel pressure regulator 900

I have a '94 965 that is making a high pitched sound (kHz range) especially notable at idle. This sound is intermittent. It starts a few minutes after starting the car, and the pitch decreases as the load on the motor is increased as in acceleration. At significant load, like traveling at speed >40 mph, the sound is not present.

The sound seems like it is coming from the fuel pressure regulator. I though this might be the problem, so I swapped the FPR out with a new one that was on my other '95 964. The sound problem was still present, and both FPR's seem to be functioning properly in providing fuel return at idle. The fuel pump does not seem to be making noise, and I could not induce changes in the noise at idle by tapping around on the fuel pump/fuel filter assy under the car.

Any ideas on what might be causing this?
