update on 71 142E 140-160

I haven't heard of the bellhousing bolt holes stripping out before.
Are you sure that you have the right allen bolts in there? All the ones I
have seen are 7/16"-14 UNC.
If you do use helicoils you will have to get the helicoil tap for that size also.
An alternative might be to tap them out to M12-1.75 and use the slightly larger
metric bolts. It may be that some of the early 240 bellhousings DID use M12 bolts - I know the bolts that bolt the bellhousing to the block on some of the latest B20 blocks (1975) are M12-1.75. It turns out to be about 0.033" bigger than
7/16" and roughly 13.6 threads to the inch instead of 14, so a 7/16"-14 bolt
will screw into an M12-1.75 hole easily but it will be loose and STRIP EASILY.
(Could this be what happened to you??)
