Difference in Acc in a manual and automatic 240 200

On two different occassions I had the oppertunity to stand besides or behind a 240 on traffic light .On both the occassions the other car accelrated much faster than me and left me behind .Today it was a girl in a Red 240,waved at me and zoomed away. I have the manual transmission and do not consider myself a slow driver and try to run through the gears as good as I can.
I know that rear axle ratio is much different (M-3.31 A-3.73) and the biggest difference I feel is the 1st gear which is M47 is 4.03:1 and Auto is 2.45 :1 (2nd in M is 2.16) .

I do not plan to do anything about it other than may be a A cam which gets postponed by the other expenses on the car . I am searching for a 940 Turbo to feel the difference.

Pardon me for this useless rambling though.

Regards
Gopesh
