oops, i did it again. 200

Hello.

I am changing the front seals on my 91. The cam and crank seals were no problem. However, the intermediate seal was severely deteriorated; it was hardened and baked to the aluminum housing that surrounds it and the crank seal. I removed this housing to try to remove the seal; the seal slid easily off the shaft but would not come out of the housing no matter how i pressed.

Then I blew my cool.

I took a ball join separator fork and recklessly pressed the stuck seal out with it. This worked, but it badly scratched and nicked the inside of the housing.

I sanded the scratches and nicks out, but now I'm thinking the part may be compromised. Can I expect that oil will leak out the outside part of this seal, where the housing was sanded? The shaft is not damaged. Is the seal supposed to create a seal between the shaft and the seal only, or between the seal and the housing, as well?

Thanks.
