Give this shot. scroll down past the making of the tool.

Aside from the taper NOTE that there is an Up and Down too.


You press the Bushing out toward the Center of the car. Press it in from the center of teh car.
The tool, if made with the parts specified, will have a thick enough wall to handle the tapered side as well as the untapered for driving it backin.

Putting the new one in, you will find that you can hand wiggle 60% of the Bushing into the first 'ring' in the axle before setting up the tool. I use Bearing grease on the bushing to make it slide in easier as well as making 'the next time' easier to get out.
