If you are worried about crud having gotten into the bolt holes in the block from where you cleaned the block face, I would recommend flushing the holes out with a good shot of brake cleaner aerosol with extension tube. Then use a syringe or "turkey baster" to suck the remaining cleaner out of the holes. Next to the last step now... give each hole a light spritz of WD-40 to prevent surface rust as the brake cleaner removes all oil in a heartbeat.
Finally, install the HG and head, then put a very light coat of anti-seize compound on the head bolt threads and run them in, torque as the manual instructs. NOTE: The mating face of the bolt heads and the head where the bolt heads hit should be free of oil to ensure a proper torque reading/setting.
Also note that the large passage heads are more prone to HG failure due to not changing the coolant often enough (as outlined in the owners manual), so technically, if the coolant is maintained properly, both head designs will last for a near-eternity.
