an update to the engine with missing crank sprocket washers 200

i should have noticed this but did not until today. this car is a 1993. there was almost nothing of the timing belt left. the head has a casting number of 1000530. i found only one number on the lower passenger side of the block which reads simply ? 230.

here is where the fun starts. this engine has for all 3....square tooth sprockets not round tooth.

shouldn't this year engine and car have round tooth?

is there any where i can look closer to determine if this engine is not the original one for this car? a casting number or something which will give me a year or something?

now i have a set of round tooth gears in very good condition which i got today. should i swap them back in or just leave well enough and use a square tooth belt?

a hint of the past is this, the rear timing belt cover has a few very distinct plastic melt areas strongly hinting of.........an 'over heating issue' in the past???

the current owner, a friend doesn't know from adam about any of this and says it is just like it was when he bought it.
