89 240 new front wheel bearnings don't fit??

While doing a full brake job, I decided to install new front wheel bearings. My first source was the local parts store. I pulled the LF hub and installed the new races. At that point, I noticed that the seal was wrong. It was a standard type, not the two part used on my car. Wondering what else was wrong, I tried the bearings on the spindle. No dice. They were too tight to fit on the spindle. Not by much, but enough. I figured the chinese had a bad day.

Gave up the job after wringing off a bleed screw on the RF caliper.

Needing the car to be mobile, I reinstalled the original seal and cleaned and installed the original bearings on the LF. I then returned the parts and explained my problem. They accepted the return and apologized. Ordered a rebuilt caliper for the RF.

I tried Eeuorparts for replacement bearings, noting that the bearings were made in germany and japan. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that I needed two kits and only ordered one.

Today, I tried to install the bearings on the RF and replace the caliper. Found the same problems with the bearings. Just a hair too small,to the point that I was concerned that I would never get them off if I pushed too hard. Of course this was after I had replaced the races.

Now I have the original (262K miles) bearings running in new races on both sides.

Is this a problem that is likely to bite me? Does anyone know of a solid source for bearings? I am not so annoyed with my first born that going to the dealer is on my list.

What say you all?
