insanity has set in -- third brake bleed did not work 700

>>>But if you hold pressure with the engine off, and you can just about stand on the pedal without it dropping on you, then your brake system hydraulics are most likely okay

Yup, I can stand on the pedal and it is quite stiff when the car is not running. In fact, I took the car out for a spin last night (I've been waiting to drive it since it needs a new inspection sticker) and the brakes do work, but the pedal is quite soft. A few panic stops at low speed even produce the requisite squeal for a second before the ABS kicks in. So, I could learn to drive like this, but I would much rather take full advantage of my newly installed, non-sticking caliper, Brembo rotors and nice pads.

I guess I"ll try one more time to bleed the system and then I'll get a donor master cylinder and booster from another car.
