...on the switch vs relay, aside from the switch location issue, I think you could wire your switch to control the solenoid and light in opposition by wiring the switch backwards (which is sort of how the OD relay is) like this:

Relay 30 is used as an output, and wired to both the solenoid and the Y/R arrow light wire.

R87 is wired from fused 11, taking the 12V to the solenoid and light in one switch position. (Solenoid gets energized, light goes out.)

R87a is wired to ground, so the light comes on and the solenoid is "dropped" when the switch is transferred.
