coil packs/wiring S90-V90

Cranked up to come home Friday and car ran rough. Code said 303, #3 cylinder mis fire. Swapped #3 and #1 coil packs and code went to #1 cylinder misfire. Seems I need a new coil pack. However, when unplugging the coil packs I see what looks like grease packed around the plugs, but I am concerned it might be deteriorated insulation around the receptacle part of the plug attached to the wire harness. This car had most of the usual stuff replaced, mostly under warranty, incl the PNP switch, door covers for the peeling material(twice), intake manifold gasket, etc., but I don't see any evidence of a replacement wire harness in the records. The parts of the harness under the shield look great and they don't seem to be brittle. Is there a way to know if the harness has been replaced? Thanks for the comments!
