CYLINDER HEAD GASKET REPLACEMENT 200 1993

Good day/evening all, I recently replaced a leaking head gasket. I installed everything Friday and started the car Saturday morning. I t started very violently, uncontrollable shaking and sputtering from the exhaust. I installed new plugs and wires, distributor, rotor, crank position sensor, flame trap, oil trap. When the cylinders are at TDC, are they at the very top of the block or just below the top? Any suggestions/recommendations are greatly appreciated by all. Thanks.
