code 144 700 1990

Engine code 144 . 1990 760 turbo 110,000 miles well maintained . while driving down hi-way car seemed to loose power for about 8 seconds then it returned to normal but check engine lite came on .lite went out about 2 days later , checed code and got 144 , i believe according to books this has to do with the fuel controller not receiving a load signal. does this signal come from mass air control? should i be replacing it ? Car runs good now but i am sure problem will return at some time. Air conditioner was on at the time power loose occured.
