No start 90 Turbo FAQ doesn't help 700 1990

I bought a 90 wagon that the owner said had started to stall while turning then just quit and wouldn't start. I got it home and then it started right up. But after warming it up and a test drive it did the same thing, sputter on corners and then die and no start. Started next morning, Filled it with gas, no help.

First,I pulled the pump assembly. Pump ran when Jumped from a battery. sock was very dirty. I replaced both. Test drive; Ran til warm then died. Restarted up after 15 min. cool down but only for couple minutes.

Next I pulled the f.i. solenoid. Just before I pulled it I tried starting it, started right up heard pumps. I pulled it to look at it and put it back. Now it wouldn't start and the main pump didn't run but the in tank did. I've tried to use a jumper ion the relay socket, as in the FAQ, to direct wire the main pump but no luck. The pin socket where I used the jumper shows dead, no current on my meter. In tank pump is running. And now I've got a damn short somewhere running the battery down. I'll try to find that through the fuses.

I'm out in the boonies and this is my only car now (Other was just stolen, dammit.) so running for parts is difficult. If I can trouble shoot it without "trying" some other parts, much better.

I'm stumped,
