Original Upper Dash Replacement 1800 1970

I've (finally) got my upper dash out of the car...and now want to replace it's cover with original material vs. the "plastic dash cap". I've begun pricing replacements and am looking at around the ~$300-450 mark depending on supplier. My question is does anyone have experience with, and/or instructions on installing a new cover on an original upper dash? Or, has anyone used a company to do this for them? I'm thinking I have seen someone mention a group in L.A. for this work but my searches haven't been able to turn up any details. Thanks

Side comment; I've determined the best method to attack those "impossible to reach" bolts at either far end and behind the upper dash without removing the lower dash ... use a fine hacksaw blade and from the front of the dash thread the blade between the upper pad and woodgrain dash and have at it. (Believe me, after a couple of days on your back fidgeting behind the dash trying to get a grip on those suckers, it was sweet justice to cut them in two!)
