B18 engine paint 444-544

Howdy,

Yes, Penta red is the same color. But, there are two Penta Red part numbers. There is a difference in hue between OHV Volvo Red and OHC Volvo Red. I have a B18, a B23, and a B230 in the garage. The OHC engines are a little more orange than the B18. Stated another way, the B-18 is a slightly darker red. But you really have to have them side-by-side to see it.

Unless you are doing a show-only restoration, I wouldn't worry too much about the paint. I looked into engine paint colors not long ago. See this thread:

The long and the short of it -- just about any red will do. Close is good enough for a daily driver. Ford Red is a favorite.
