"Bedding In' brake pads

I just got a Tech Tip email from Zeckhausen Racing (the place where I got the most recent set of brake pads for my brick) detailing the procedure for bedding in brake pads.

I have been putting pads on cars since disk brakes were invented, and I have ONLY bedded in pads if there were instructions in the box telling me to do so. I have never noticed any difference between the ones I bedded in and the ones I did not.

These instructions indicate that ALL brake pads should be bedded in.

What say the bricksters? Do all disk brake pads need to be bedded in properly or is this unnecessary in most/all cases?
