740 front sway bar bushing 700 1988

Fellow fanatics,

Doing my first sway bar bushing hardware replacement while hitting the struts, sway bar links, ball joints and tie rod ends.

As we all know there are various thicknesses of sway bar.

I have an 88 740 gle and was told it had a 21mm front so i ordered those.

Is the rubber bushing supposed to have a slight gap when on the bar or is it supposed to wrap around and lie flush? I don't want to force it on.

I'm thinking it should wrap flush. If gap is say 1/8 inch prior to apply the bracket is that the wrong size?

removed part# is 1273184 642 nderneath that is 6032-5.
