On my way home from an errand today, I noticed my engine was steaming a fair amount. It didn't last long, but it was noticeable.
Earlier in the year (or last year, I don't remember), I replaced the two lines in the back of the engine that are water pump related, so I can't imagine those are the issues again.
However I did remove the water pump recently (during my timing belt re-con). Could the movement of the pipe that goes from the water pump to the back of the engine, cause it to come loose?
The smell wasn't that of anti-freeze, nor did it smell of burning oil. It smelled kind of like the exhaust getting wet. There weren't any puddles anywhere I drove.
I'm going to wait till tomorrow to check it, to let the engine cool down.
There is a damp spot near the timing belt shroud, but that is towards the front. It did not appear to be oil either and I'm not sure if that's related to the steam issue.
When I found out those hoses needed to be replaced, I noticed an obvious stream of anti-freeze out of one of the hoses when I pushed it with a stick. When I did a quick glance and poke to the hose and I didn't see any evidence of a leak or more steam like the previous time.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be, or what else it might be besides what I'm thinking?
