New choke wires install 120-130

Hi all! hope eveyone had a nice and safe holiday!! By the number of new posts on here it seems eveyone is fiddling with the Amazons! .... Need some advice on attaching my new choke wires to the carbs, guess I didnt think I'd have any trouble figureing that out! I followed some good tips and lubricated the wires prior to install, put some barbs on the metal clamp under the dash, and cleaned and greased all mechanisms. where the wire attaches to the carbs is a U shaped clamp with holes on each U. I assumed the metal sheath went inside the metal nipple with a slot in it. I removed about quarter inch of plastic from the sheath and was able to insert maybe 16th of an inch. found some difficulty placing the U clamp doing this. any suggestions on proper installation. does metal sheath butt right on top of this slotted nipple, then clamp it? should I have not removed alittle plastic from the sheath? Any advice is greatly appreciated! ( I did get the rear carb hooked up but it seems the attachment of wire to carb isnt as secure as I'd like to see) Thanx!
